Rotavirus Vaccine Production
Jan.15.2026
Application Scenarios
This case focuses on the large-scale production of oral attenuated rotavirus vaccines. The core process relies on the high-density culture of Vero cells and viral amplification.
Equipment Supplied
The configuration includes one 15L and one 75L fixed-bed (fibra disk-carrier) bioreactor, plus two 200L fixed-bed bioreactors. A complete set of upstream equipment, including media preparation and online monitoring systems, is also provided.

Implementation Process
A stepwise scale-up process was adopted:
15L Bioreactor: Used for cell seed recovery and expansion to provide a highly active and homogeneous working seed culture for subsequent production.
75L Bioreactor: Undertakes intermediate scale-up culture to achieve a steady increase in cell density.
200L Bioreactors: Two units operate in parallel for viral cultivation. The fibra disk-like carriers provide an extremely high surface area, ensuring adherent cell growth and sufficient nutrient exchange. Combined with precise control of temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen, a stable microenvironment is created for viral replication.
Application Results
High Process Compatibility: Seamless scale-up from seed to production is achieved, with viral titers stably meeting standards.
Significant Capacity Increase: The parallel operation of two 200L bioreactors ensures that a single batch can meet the demand for 1 million doses of vaccine bulk.
Cost Advantages: The low-shear design of the fibra disk carriers reduces cell damage and facilitates harvesting. Compared to traditional processes, production costs are reduced by 30%.
The system complies with GMP and WHO standards, helping the enterprise achieve efficient and compliant vaccine production.
